I have met a number of people in my life here on earth. A few of them grabbed me as movers and shakers in their respective communities. One of them is Viola Moolman who feeds children at Eersteriver, Cape Town despite her own lack of resources. Another is Pastor Xola Skosana who challenged the 'white' church to take their rightful position to learn from and support their black brothers in the correct way.
Another man who has inspired me over time (and sometimes confused me) I met in the nineties when South Africa was in the first years of the new democracy, a time of excitement and fear at the same time. We lost contact for a while and when our paths crossed again I learned that he lost both legs due to gangrene.
That fact is not important, though now - what is important though: for South Africa to "change" and for us to experience true freedom (not political or religious) we need to work with our people.
So what do I want to do and what do I want to challenge you to do? I want to raise R12 million rand for three projects - 88% to the Living Waters Community Project, and 6% each for the two other projects.
Ian Murray is the other gentleman that I referred to - he wants to obtain a property to centralise their efforts in the community. More details is available at www.livingwaterscommunity.blogspot.com .
What I want you to do is to sponsor me for the run per kilometer. Executives or their companies could sponsor between R20 and R100 per kilometer. Other members of the public could sponsor between R1 and R20 per kilometer. Please send us an e-mail at sponsor@anamcara.co.za to note your commitment.
I will line up to run 160 kilometer in the Washie that is run every year in July. In 2008 the race will start at 5pm Friday 18 July and will finish by latest 7pm Saturday 19 July (26 hours in total). I will be using Herbalife products (http://www.herbalife.com) to support my body through the arduous campaign - .
